Big Firm Capabilities at Small Firm Rates & Attention
Based on Ms. Barnhart’s 30 years of practice experience at large law firms, and her working relationships with a network of attorney colleagues, all with big firm experience like hers, practicing in a diverse range of practice areas throughout the U.S., Barnhart Law PLC provides big law firm experience and capabilities at small firm rates and attention.
Outside General Counsel
The firm ** frequently acts as “outside general counsel” to our ** business clients. Serving as part of a client’s team, Ms. Barnhart knows the client’s business, and can be there when needed, without the expensive payroll and benefits costs the client would incur to employ an in-house attorney full time.
Client engagements commence only upon the client’s signing of our written engagement letter with Barnhart Law PLC and deposit of the applicable advance fee deposit retainer in our Attorney IOTA Trust Account. The retainer deposit is held there, and typically applied toward the last billing for a particular matter, or retained as the basis for a continuing client relationship, if so mutually agreed. The engagement is governed by the terms stated in our engagement letter.
Our fees for work performed are billed at Ms. Barnhart’s standard hourly rate, which currently is $350.00 per hour, and as customary, the client is also responsible for disbursements, such as any filing fees or other expenses incurred in connection with the client’s matters. We invoice monthly, or at the conclusion of a matter if sooner, and our invoices are due in full upon receipt.
No Attorney-Client relationship is formed by your reviewing or interacting with this website, by contacting us, or by an initial consultation. Client relationships commence only after signing the engagement letter with Barnhart Law PLC and depositing the applicable retainer in our IOTA Trust Account.

Constance R. (“Connie”) Barnhart, Attorney At Law and Managing Member, founded Barnhart Law PLC in March, 2009, after practicing law for more than 30 years at large law firms, most recently 12½ years as a Partner at the law firm of Holland & Knight LLP.
More detail about Ms. Barnhart’s background and experience is found in her attorney profile and under Experience.
She founded Barnhart Law PLC in order to continue providing to her U.S. and international clients the same service they received at a large law firm, but at the lower billing rate and greater flexibility for individualized service and personal attention permitted by a niche firm with lower overhead.
For specialized assistance in complementary areas, such as tax, regulatory advice, and other areas, when required in the transactions she handles, Ms. Barnhart brings in and continues to work with her network of former partners and colleagues of many years, on an as needed basis.
For further information on Ms. Barnhart’s network of attorney colleagues and as-needed team-of-colleagues approach, which enables us to offer the capabilities of a large law firm without the overhead and costs, see Attorney/ Network.
